History:
The OACHS turned out her first set of medical graduates in June 1989 and since then has produced over a thousand medical doctors through 30 sets many of who currently work all over the world. The OACHS Medical Alumni was conceived as the body for these products of the College that is now a big factor in medical education in Nigeria.
Under the aegis of the ex-OSUMSITES, the former students held the first OACHS Alumni Re-Union on the 22nd March 2008 with attendants from Australia, Europe and Nigeria. In attendance were many ex-students, former and present staff (academic and non-academic) including the pioneering President of OSUMSA Dr Albert Odulele, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. ‘Dayo Ejiwunmi, Mr Oyebisi, current National President of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Alumni Association Mr ‘Funso Olusanya while the current Provost of OACHS, Prof. A.O. Olowu was the Chief Host.
The Re-Union gave birth to this body now known and addressed as OACHS Medical Alumni’.
Background: This body was formed following the successful hosting of the First OACHS Alumni Re-Union on the 22nd March 2008. The Re-Union took place in the Main Lecture Theatre of the Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences (OACHS), Sagamu.
